R took Ping to the SPCA clinic before 7:30 AM, but their vet wasn't in today, so she took her to her regular vet in PSJ. She had to leave Ping there to be monitored during the day and checked out by the vet in the afternoon. Poor Ping. ;_;
Meanwhile, I took Mom for her appointment, and everything was clear. Then we went to lunch at Olive Garden for some hot soup to warm up from the cold (37*F in the morning, brr!). I also got my usual Braised Beef Tortellini, yum~! And Mom ordered the appetizer sampler to share (I tried the fried ravioli, and R ate the calamari and clam(?) stuffed mushrooms).
After lunch, I decided to stop by the vet office to visit Ping, who must be scared and lonely by herself. The office had told us that the vet would see her at 3 PM, but even though it was a couple of hours before, she had already been seen and was actually ready to go home. Good timing!
We met with the vet assistant, who said Ping was fine, except they found some struvite crystals in her urine. They don't know if it's caused by stress, diet, or a urinary tract condition, but they recommended some prescription food to help dissolve/prevent the crystals. The vet gave us some special dry and wet food samples to give Ping for a week to see if it clears up. They also gave her a muscle relaxant/pain reliever since we said she'd been sensitive to touch, though they couldn't tell because, like most cats, Ping was "stoic" and didn't show any discomfort (weakness) when examined by strangers. (The assistant was surprised to learn that "Ping is the runt??" and added, "She's beautiful." =)
Ping was stoic even when we entered the exam room and greeted her. She was tucked into the back of her carrier, watchful and silent. She didn't make a sound until, 10 minutes into the drive back home, she started making distressed yowls. "Aww, poor baby, it's okay, you're alright~ We're almost home!" T_T
When we got home, Ping was more relaxed, but now it's Georgie and Oreo who are growling and hissing at Ping! I guess it's Ping who now smells weird (from being at the vet's). It's like, "you hissed at us, now it's our turn, and now you know how it feels to be treated like an outcast." Oh, dear. I hope this doesn't last long. =/
Ping will sleep by herself for now, while Georgie and Oreo still snuggle together.
