We went to Mills 50, the Asian & Artsy district of Orlando, and tried Hawkers - Asian Street Fare, which serves street food favorites from the bustling night markets of Asia.
We were the 2nd customers there, but it got quite busy soon. It's a trendy place, like a hipster brewery/eatery with Asian accents like the Chinese newspaper tabletops and octagonal windows.
While waiting for M&M, we ordered appetizers:
Roast Duck Bao (mmm!) & Grilled Pork Skewers (mmm!)
Hawkers Delight (stir-fried tofu, broccoli, napa, carrots, bell peppers, shiitake & straw mushrooms in brown sauce; R: good!; me: good Chinese take-out) & Malaysian Prawn Mee (? some spicy noodle soup; Mom: not bad)
South Asia Curry w/ white rice (me: decent Thai curry; i wanted the Malaysian Mee Goreng noodle bowl, w/o shrimp, but waiter said they ran out of usual sauce & used fish sauce, so too bad) & Coconut Curry Shrimp (R: good! look how big the shrimp are!)
Pork Belly Bao (MMM!) (pictured w/ my curry) & more Roast Duck Bao
M&M also ordered Stir Fry Udon(?) and Miso Ramen, which they really enjoyed, and they said they already wanted to come back and try more. R was happy, of course, while Mom and I deemed it worth another shot even though the dishes were just not bad kind of good (for the price), with the exception of the Baos and Skewers, which were delicious. Next time, we should try their Roti Canai (cousin recommended) and the Ginger Cheesecake (mmm).
M got Mom a new set of Serta pillows, which is useful, thoughtful, and perfect for our incoming guests. :)
Looking forward to meeting again in O-town...and trying more food, like King Bao down the street! ;P
Bonus: M brought us the Chinese zodiac animal plushies, so we put them on my window sill. XD
