August Food Blog Post

1) Tried a new Colombian restaurant w/ M&M. Pretty good, though not outstanding, food, but excellent service & ambiance. My "pork belly" dish turned out to be "pork back meat" aka just a regular fried pork chop, though it was a pretty big serving w/ a lot of beans 'n rice & an arepa con queso (corn patty w/ cheese) that was good... until I started to feel sick... ^^; I think M&M really liked their platters, but Mom was not impressed w/ the skinny steak.

2) Brunch w/ Dad & M&M at Le Crave. First time trying their breakfast. I had the Suntree Breakfast crepe: buckwheat crepe w/ swiss cheese, eggs, bacon, spinach, caramelized onions, & beurre blanc (white butter) sauce. Very tasty again. I think Dad liked his Deluxe crepe: topped w/ mixed fruit & maple syrup, served w/ eggs, bacon, sausage, sundried tomatoes, potatoes au gratin, & hollandaise sauce.

3) Tried Chef Larry's for lunch before they stop serving lunch forever, but they already stopped their regular lunch menu and had a special menu instead. Mom got fried salmon & friend crab cake (specialty) w/ fries, slaw, & salad. I got chicken cordon bleu egg rolls (w/ chicken, ham, & cheddar cheese) w/ black bean mashed potatoes (like a thick bean dip), salad, & slaw. Very good for $10!

4) Went w/ R to our fav Indian buffet. A really, really great spread that day, so many dishes, all so yummy, including samosa, lamb biryani, tandoori chicken, cashew korma, butter chicken, South Indian potatoes, lentil soup, cheese curd. MMM! Thank you, 15% off FiveStar coupon!

5) Joined R&J at their fav AYCE sushi place, but instead of infinite avocado rolls for $18, I just ordered off their regular Chinese take-out menu. Their orange chicken lunch special w/ fried rice & egg roll was really quite good. (Much better than the first time I ordered off the menu.)

6) Had to leave the house again for another showing, so I took Dad to Chef Larry's for (their last week of) lunch. He had salmon w/ lime butter sauce, served on a thin cheesecake (?!), w/ cheese risotto mashed potatoes, salad, & slaw. I had the beef filet w/ mushroom marsala sauce, served w/ the same sides. Very good again! (Dad agreed w/ Mom that the salmon had good flavor but not so fresh texture.)

7) Another showing, another lunch out w/ Dad. Chinese buffet.
