Stuff I Forgot to Blog About

AKP rant - I've been meaning to write out this huge long rant about AKP, but I don't have time. This will suffice. For now... -_-*

Art Fest - Last week, went to Fall Art Festival. After several years of seeing the same artists (at both Fall and Spring Art Festivals every year), it gets less exciting and much faster to walk through. ^^; But, ooh, shiny things~! Can't afford to buy art right now anyway, and didn't find any Xmas gifts. But we did get food from a (new?) Thai-American food stand; tofu pad thai was actually quite good for $6. :P Also ate a guava-and-cream-cheese empanada (a different stand, obviously lol); little oily but yum.

Art Hop - This past Fri., went to "Art Hop" with a couple of nice dental school guys (a quasi-date for Sis & Scott, plus me & Steven tag-alongs, but surprisingly refreshing rather than awkward ^^;). Strolled through small shopping center of boutiques for beads, antiques, chocolate, stained glass, crafts, art, and more beads. Very low-key, and we were the youngest people there, but still interesting. Plus, yay free cookies and cider.

Minor Car Accident - Sat. was Dad's bday. Oh, and we got into a small fender-bender. We were the 2nd car stopped at a red light. We were just chatting when all of a sudden wham! shoved forward. Thankfully it wasn't that hard (mostly just shocking) and there were no injuries. The old lady behind us just didn't realize how close we were and didn't brake enough. We pulled over and exchanged info. A good samaritan even pulled over after us and said he saw what happened, asked if we were all okay, and offered to be a witness if needed. What a nice person! Anyway, the car had minimal damage, little more than cosmetic scratches, and insurance covers so everything's fine. Couldn't help but be jittery afterwards though. Maggie got over it pretty quickly and was mostly just pissed off that it happened to her, the lady couldn't even find her insurance, we were almost late for something, and then she accidentally deleted the samaritan's phone number from her new phone (oops!). Needless to say, she got a bad headache. Meanwhile, I had a dull headache, too, and even felt some nausea, probably from the shock and change in blood pressure. But afterwards we felt better when we did some errands, shopped at Target and Ross (yay bargain Xmas gift shopping =), and ate at Olive Garden, my favorite chain restaurant (they never disappoint me, not once in 20 years).

Sample Fest - Sun. we were obligated to go to Sam's for their Holiday Sample Fest. A bit disappointed this year, but at least there was pumpkin cheesecake, bruschetta, salsa/hummus/spinach-artichoke dip w/ pita chips, ham and scalloped potatoes, juice, cocoa, and cider. Still not enough for a meal though so we went to Adam's Rib; good pork sandwich and coleslaw, but their "seasoned fries" are like not seasoned at all. =/ (Yes, I must include a food report with every incident I write about.)

Avatar - Then I found out the last disc of Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3 was ready for pick-up, so I drove to the library by myself. This is a big deal for me because I hate driving anywhere outside my small hometown, to the point that it's almost a phobia in college town (seriously). Add the fender-bender from the day before, and I was even more nervous, but thankfully the traffic was mild and the trip quick. And YES, we finally finished A:TLA! What an awesome, incredibly well-made epic show. The 2nd greatest American cartoon ever made (after Batman The Animated Series of course). I already want to watch the whole series for my third time.

Shortpacked! - I've rediscovered this geeky webcomic, and I've been plowing through the archives like crazy. I love how it's superficially a toy collector and comic book geek comic (the Batman jokes are what drew me in), but it's also full of absurd sci-fi and soap (I stay for the "Drama Tag" love octagon). And yet the cartoonist is a mad genius who writes the dramedy so compellingly that I'm shipping a dysfunctional sociopathic couple who's built on blackmail, hatesex, and both being broken in a way that works together. D'aww.

Laters! - Today I have to cram-pack then drive home. We're starting Thanksgiving weekend early to go to the Cake Wrecks party in Orly whoo! Full report of the monster Feast Week when I get back. Til then, HAPPY THANKSGIVING! ^_^

Jung Min at H-Artistry

Park Jung Min DJs, shuffles, & performs w/ international artists in H-Artistry Global Art of Mixing Party!

PJM performed in the exclusive invitation-only Hennessy mix party alongside American dance/R&B singer-songwriter/producer Chris Willis, Australian "We No Speak Americano" Yolanda Be Cool, "Taiwan's Beyonce" Landy Wen, and Malaysia's top DJs Goldfish & Blink.

He wowed the crowd with his powerful performance (including a duet with Landy) and his transformation into a mixing and shuffling DJ Park (favorite dance tracks and his own songs)!

Happy 11-11-11 Veterans & Pepero Day!

Random Fandom that has nothing to do with the post title:

Mario Mushroom Candy Tin
Ew, sour candy. But couldn't resist the Cute! This is all part of Steven Lee's evil genius plans.
(On a related note, I also made my own little paper mushroom from a print-out pattern. =)

Greatest crossover fanart ever!

The Flaming C!

Created by Conan O'Brien and God of the DC Animated Universe Bruce Timm!
I'm rather ambivalent about the upcoming Green Lantern: The Animated Series, but I'd totally watch FC:TAS! XD I also love how they inserted Flaming C into 2 clips from Young Justice, replacing Superman and using Bruce Greenwood's Bat-voice. lol.

Wahhh~ I want to go to L'Arc~en~Ciel's New York concert!!! Why couldn't it line up with spring break? Why is NY so far? This is their 20th L'Anniversary! Will I ever get another chance to see my favorite rock band live?! TT____TT
Holy crap, I love this photo. Dark, luxurious, and sexy~

Birthday Week

10/31 Monday - I never dress up for Halloween (too cheap to buy a costume, too lazy to make my own, too anti-social to need one anyway XD;), but this year I made my own pair of Bat-ears:
(No, not cat ears, not bat ears, Bat(man)-ears.)
Actually they were for Maggie because I refused to let her dress as Batgirl wearing cat ears. We're Batfans, for pete's sake, and no true Batfan should settle for cat ears when Bat-ears can't be found! XP So I made simple ones with origami paper and pinned them to her hair. (The photo is version 2.0 with a headband and tape.) It's no cape-and-cowl, but it worked. ^^

11/1 Tuesday - Anyway, besides seeing the cute costumed kiddies, the only part of Halloween I really enjoy is the after-Halloween candy sale right before my birthday. Muahahaha~! XD

11/2 Wednesday - Had a pretty good birthday. ^^ Maggie and I met at home for lunch, where I baked cranberry-orange muffins (from a box, but a yummy cake alternative) and veggie 'n pasta with cream sauce (improvised because I had to eat noodles for my birthday (Chinese tradition), but also a surprising success :).
Maggie gave me my present then. It was a purple "take-out" box stuffed with a long, soft purple scarf, 2 pairs of cute violet socks, a knit cap with multi-color stripes, and Pillsbury chocolate chip cookie-flavored chapstick. 8D And, as is our family's tradition and pride, it was all on sale. lol.
(Yes, I am obsessed with purple/violet. ♥)
Later, we went to Fuji Hana for dinner. I was very happy with my complimentary birthday entree, pork katsu rice bowl. Delicious! In fact, I already want to go back and have it again. :P  The rest of the family couldn't visit lately, but I got calls and ecards. ^^ Finally, Ben 'n Jerry's strawberry cheesecake ice cream for dessert. My fav!

Thanks to JDN for the sugary sweet ecard!
So love the 2nd photo. Jung Min~♥

11/3 Thursday - Prince Young Saeng's birthday! Saengil chukhahamnida! Ahh, d'Ottergnan cake so cute!

11/4 Friday - My online rant buddy's birthday! Happy birthday, Ivy! ^o^
(That's @tetsu_girl, @mystyle1103, and @IvyTD. lol ;)

11/5 Saturday - Got a free birthday meal at Moe's. I was amazed their eClub birthday gift wasn't BOGO, but actually free with no extra charge or purchase necessary. I just ordered and gave the coupon, and they gave me my Homewrecker with chips. Nice!

The Good, the Bad, and the Lol

The Good
This is totally awesome! Like mind-blowing! :D

The Bad
Aww, man! My tetsu "Shine" fanvid got removed from YouTube! T_T
(But, um, it still seems to work as an embedded vid..? >_>;)

The LOL
In the news: Giant Lego Man found beached in Florida. XD

Space, the Final Frontier

Took a little family "staycation" this past weekend.  We all went to Kennedy Space Center for "Salute to Brevard Weekend". Haven't been there in years. It was cool to see and read about the history of America's space program with the natural history of Florida. And the weather was sunny with a cool breeze, the perfect day to walk around the Rocket Garden. ^^ It was like being at a museum theme park, educational and entertaining!

The "highlight" was the Star Trek Exhibition! Luckily for us, the celebration of its 45th Anniversary was extended from Summer through Fall. We got to see all kinds of sets, costumes, and props from the show, accompanied by informative placards about the "real-life" science behind it. (For example, did you know that NASA studied and even emulated the command center design of the U.S.S. Enterprise's bridge? XD)

KSC even had a "Mad Science presents Star Trek Live" show where two actors in costume (one a Starfleet officer, the other a Vulcan) thwart a Romulan plan that threats Earth (similar to the rebooted Star Trek movie) using little science demos and funny audience participation (the secret weapon was tribbles lol). Family-friendly, cheesy fun! ;D Also, Rachel and I rode the Shuttlecraft Simulator. It was only four bumpy minutes inside a hydrolics-shaken "shuttle" with a video game-like screen, but still enjoyable. hehe.

In addition, we ate at my favorite Chinese buffet. *blissful* Why can't any of the restaurants in my area be that good? :P

Stress Baking

With mid-terms, kpop fandom angst, and quite possibly a bad case of PMS, I've been feeling down, agitated, and just hungry. :P SO today I finally tried this pumpkin cupcake recipe I've been wanting to do!

The cupcake consistency was just right, soft, light, not dry, but I think the pumpkin flavor could've been a bit stronger.  Next time, I'll add more pumpkin puree and/or spice, because the pumpkin cake loaf I also made (adapted from the cupcake recipe), turned out a bit better, more moist and flavorful. But man, I love spiced desserts and cream cheese frosting, so that really made me feel better. ^____^

ThanKyu, Kyu Jong!

And THANKYU to slimz1808 for translating this looong, fascinating, and wonderful interview!

Kyu Jong's DC Interview

Anonymous 3:28 commented: "omg this mans heart is made of solid gold honestly"

THIS!!

I have never seen a man so kind, thoughtful, selfless, humble, and pure before!  JM is my fangirl bias, but after reading all of KJ's interviews lately, I think KJ is my ideal man, like, forever.

KJ always makes me feel better when he talks about SS501. (Especially after I feel down when KHJ talks... -_-) With KJ at the Center, there's always hope. ♥

I LOLed so much at the "UR MAN" photoshop. XD

I love how KJ invested his own thoughts, feelings, and style into his album, rather than going with whatever's trendy. Actually, that's what's great about all SS501 solos! ^^

"A team with quality" definitely. When SS501 reunite, more mature, more skilled, more amazing than ever, they really will be the Hallyu version of Shinhwa!!

"If it's hyung, I can give him my utmost congrats and won't feel envious at all." I literally started sobbing at that. T_T  KJ deserves that top position, too! All the members have natural talent, work really hard, are charming, and totally deserve it!  And I wish he wouldn't see himself as less than the others, but how can I not admire a man who thinks of others first and more than himself, a truly honorable man? KJ is too good to be true. *_*

Edit to add... Comments on second half:

Aww, KJ and JiYoungie. Pure, innocent brother and sister. ^^
I want KJ on We Got Married with Oh Se Jung! How cute would they be? :D
Wow, I wanna see KJ's art!
I love his thoughtful answers. Especially his sweet stories and considerate, thankful feelings about fans. <3

KJ, music, drama, musical, everything daebak! ^o^

More KHJ

Is Kim Hyun Joong's comeback too soon?

"Frankly, people do not harbor much curiosity in my music, that's why I want to show more, wanting to sing songs that are appealing to everyone. I know people's expectations are not so high, so I have selected music that are relatively simple. [...] I have been receiving vocal training so there will be many changes, including my way of singing. Female fans may like the sound, my voice has indeed improved progressively."

Obviously, HJ is not my favorite (though usually my ire comes from crazy KHJ fangirls), but this interview shows why I like him. He's honest to others and to himself, and he's humble enough to admit that the public takes more interest in his image than in his music, but he works hard to improve and show his music artist side anyway. If nothing else, I'm proud of him for that.

And honestly, I do like this album better than the first. Breakdown was mostly for visual appeal, but Lucky focuses on music, his music style (I think he should've debuted with his own musical expression like the others). The songs are good, varied, and show that his singing has gotten better.

Kim Hyun Joong talks about SS501 getting back together?

I guess I'm not surprised that HJ is still in touch with only some members. (We can assume he means YS and KJ, which we see, and that he doesn't keep in touch with HJB and JM?) But it's still a bit disappointing.  But of all people, I should know that losing contact doesn't mean losing affection.  I'm pretty bad at keeping in touch, especially when busy, so I understand, because they're all busy all over Asia.  Still, kinda sad. T_T

I'm glad HJ is honest about how hard it'd be to make an album together because he doesn't want to give false hope.  But can't he at least sound like he still wants to get back together and is trying to make it work like the others?  Instead, we only hear about his solo plans for the next year.  Of course they can't set time for group work when he keeps filling up his time with only solo.  =/

I mean, I'd be thrilled with a combined stage (year-end celebration PLS!), but I'll still wait for the group album. Even if it's under another name, even if they can't promote, even if it takes years, I'll wait.  Others may outgrow group status, but SS501 is different. Their bond of brotherhood is not always shown, but it's in their hearts, and it's real. I believe in Five Forever As One!

SIGH. KHJ.

Kim Hyun Joong wants to be SS501's best solo artist.

HJ, I know I said I wanted you to talk about SS501 more, but this isn't what I meant. Maybe it is better that you do the quiet/vague/stoic/can't-legally-or-firmly-talk-about-it-so-I-suffer-silently thing. -_-

There's nothing wrong with being ambitious, but it's just that the other members said that they weren't competing with each other, and HJ's statement sounds like competing (which we know he loves to do).  The others said they wanted to do their best and show their best, not be the best out of the five of them.  Instead of "I want to hear that I’m the best as a solo artist out of all the SS501 members," I wish HJ had said, "I want to hear that SS501 has the best solos out of all the groups."  I want HJ to show some pride and promise when he talks about SS501, not mention it like it's just something he used to do.

After some time to think, I admit that his statement could've been taken the wrong way ("mistranslations" and "misunderstandings" seem to happen to KHJ the most :P).  It's possible he wasn't being cocky or tactless but humble, admitting that he's not the best in SS501, and like the others, strives to improve himself and show his best.  One of the things I like most about HJ is that he's honest and self-aware.  He once said he hopes to someday become an artist that his fans won't be embarrassed to tell others about.  He realizes that people think his fans like him mostly for his looks/charms rather than his music/acting (he has natural talents, but doesn't really get to show them in this trend-obsessed K-ent business). I'm sure he hears that he's "the best" all the time. I think what he wants is for people to recognize his talent, not just his popularity ("highest sales" or "most popular" don't always equal "best"). It'd be nice if he said, "I want to live up to the name SS501," but aiming for the top of your talented group is kind of a compliment, I guess?

As I've said before, I do not doubt HJ's relationship with the others. I believe them when they say they'll be walking together as brothers forever.  But HJ's attitude makes me wonder if he still wants to actually make music and perform with the members forever. Maybe he just likes making his own music and success, which is fine and normal (most idols "outgrow" their groups). I just wonder... about his role as Leader... about SS501's future...  But I know that I'll always support all of them no matter what.

Kyu Jong Love, Part 2

More interviews, more KJ loving~

"Extraordinary Female Make-Up Photo, Hoping to be Pretty but Simply Transvestite."
lol.  I think you're pretty, KJ!  But I'm glad it was simply androgynous and not all-out cross-dressing with a wig. XD  I'm really proud of KJ for trying something never done before, even knowing it would attract negative responses.
I like how he explained his concept: white to cover other colors of himself and only show this new side; and feminine to signify a resemblence to the ex-girlfriend who has "become a part of" the man and his longing for her.  So it really does fit into his song.  How creative, artistic, and deep. <3
Also, it's so KJ of him to sympathize with women and their efforts to be pretty while doing this. ^_^

"Decided to retire when people made me feel too burdened."
Aww, poor sensitive, sweet KJ!  But I'm so glad he decided to keep going!  "The heart that got hurt by people can only be healed through people."  Thank goodness for his family, friends, members (especially YS), and fans' support which gave him strength.
He is definitely suitable as a singer.  He has a sweet voice, an ability to make you feel the sentiments in the song, and of course the handsome look and dancing ability.  And he's improved a lot for this solo, in singing and stage presence.  (Must be his Goong musical experience. ^^)
"Yesterday" is really similar to KJ: doesn't stand out at first, but the more you hear, the more you love. <3

"Afraid to make mistakes."
Wow, everything Kyu Jong says is gold! XD  He has such a pure heart and thoughtful mind.
I wonder what "temptations" KJ is talking about. ^^;  But I love that he wants to get married to avoid temptation and also give his parents grandchildren before they're too old.  Even something so personal as marital bliss, KJ still thinks of others' happiness.
And again, he always views his solo as a representative of SS501 more than his own success.

Also, first solo stage!  Fantastic!  Almost perfect vocals, flawlessly smooth dancing (sexy suspenders dance!), and what charisma!  I want to call him Kya~Jong now. XD

I Love Kyu Jong

Thanks to Ode for translating (and Liezle for sharing) this interview with Kyu Jong.

Seriously, KJ is the sweetest guy I've ever known (of).  He's just so humble, kind-hearted, warm, sensible, thoughtful, eloquent, and absolutely sincere. ♥  Whether he's giddy as a school girl or as deep as a philosopher, I love reading KJ's messages/interviews the most.  He always knows exactly what to say to ease fans' doubts, remind us why we love SS501 (he is its Core, after all), and make us feel warm and fuzzy. ^___^

I love how, even when he's doing solo, he still views his role as SS501's Center first and only strives to make the group name and fans proud, rather than look for personal glory.  And I love how he said that their solo experience would make each of them stronger so that when they return as a group they would be equal and better than ever, and that he dreams about a time when they will sing a bit of their own solo songs while standing on the same stage.  That is exactly how I feel!

KJ once again reaffirmed SS501's eventual comeback and their close bonds that need no explanation or proof. He is truly our Eternal Center. ♥

Kim Kyu Jong 1st solo!

Kyu Jong released his Turn Me On mini album and "Yesterday" MV!!

1. No More Yes - Ooh, cool and catchy! It's good enough that it would've made a solid title track for another idol group (like UKISS for example). It just has that characteristic kpop hook.  But I'm glad KJ went with something different.

2. Yesterday - Not the usual kpop, refreshing, but still melodic and catchy.  The first time I heard it, I wasn't sure, but it was already stuck in my head, and the more I listen to it, the more I like it.  Somehow, the tune reminds me of a modernized trot song.  ;P  I love when music producers mix classical and pop sounds.  KJ's voice is still gentle as always, but he definitely sounds fuller and shows more range than before.  I also like his whispered parts with the violin, even though the strings part is driving me crazy because it sounds so familiar but I can't figure out why! XD

3. My Love - Although not my usual style, I can't help but like this song, too (like with YS's "Out the Club").  Very funky.  Makes me feel like dancing.  Woot~ RapSaeng!  (I thought he started with "Why yes!", but then I realized he was saying "Y.S.!" lol)  It's so cool how KJ and YS rap in each other's songs. ^^

4. Get Ya Love - Ah, I love when KJ does smooth, sexy R&B. I think he does that best. "I wanna get ya love~" *melt*  This and "Yesterday" are my favorites.  KJ could have just as well used this as a title track.  I hope he performs this, too. :)

5. Get Ya Love (Acoustic version) - It sounds great like this, too!  Very warm and sweet. *sigh*  Like SS501's acoustic version of "Let Me Be the One". ♥

It's official; I instantly love all the songs on this mini album.  That almost never happens (even with my biases)!  Gotta give credit to B2M because I immediately liked all the songs in both YS and KJ's mini albums, while it took me a few listens to like JM's "Go Go", HJB's "oH! aH!", and well, some KHJ songs I still don't like. ^^;

Great job, Kyu Jong and Taewan and Sangwon and B2M! "Turn Me On" is a really enoyable, well-made album. I love all the songs, and again, that's saying something.

The MV is very nice!  So suave~.  KJ looks really, really handsome!

The story is simpler than what I had dreamed up, but it is a breakup happening behind-the-scenes of KJ's filming, so that's cool.  And whatever the plot lacks, KJ's acting more than makes up for it.  His reactions, his gestures, and especially his eyes were so expressive and nuanced.  Seriously, he's turned into the best actor in SS501.  I'm so proud, and I can't wait to see him in a drama!

And the Suspenders Dance!  :D  Creative, sexy, and kinda cute at the same time, classic KJ.  It's like the next generation of the "UR Man" jacket dance.  I was like :O when he took off his jacket, and then he started doing those smooth moves with the suspenders.. :Q  Love it.

SS501 mansae! Kim Kyu Jong fighting! "Turn Me On"! daebak!

Jung Min in Malaysia

JM performed at the Korean Music Wave concert in M'sia.  He performed "Not Alone" (man, how I've missed his stage!), "Do You Know" (strong enough, but just a bit out-of-tune in some parts =/), "Every Day Is Christmas" (kya~ cute butt dance!), "Missing You" (omg, 1st time singing the Princess' Man OST! perfect pitch and emotion. beautiful!), and "Go Go" (again, love the sexy tango choreography and dramatic staging).

Here's photos and fancams.  JM always looks good in all black, but I'm loving his new tanned look, especially with his sweat glistening on his neck and collar bone. *_*  It's so cute how he spoke in Mandarin, looked for his note, found the wrong one, got flustered, and had to resort back to Korean. XD  But then he found the right paper and spoke a whole paragraph in Malay for the audience. ("Hello.  How are you, everybody?  We will do our best here in M'sia to give you the best show.")  King of Fanservice! ♥

The only bad thing is this article: Malaysia feels the Hallyu Wave, thanks to SS501's Park Jung Min.  Lots of people are commenting that JM's reception was not the biggest at the concert, especially compared to GD&TOP. Honestly, I believe them.  -_-;  Even I was surprised that he was singled out from all the acts.  But even if he wasn't the most popular, I think he showed the most warmth and was an excellent representative of the Korean Wave to M'sia, and that's why he was chosen, so I'm very proud.  And although I knew there'd be a backlash reaction from other artists' fans, I wish they would respect JM, just as I respect that their idols are more popular.  After all, SS501 had been at the front of the Kpop wave and always leaving a good image since 2009.

Edit to add: Full performance fancam by SGTS! :D

Jung Min's "Your Color" MV!!

OMG.  How did I not know about this until now?!  I've been looking for a clear full audio of this song, and by serendipity I found the actual MV! :D  Ahh I love this song.  It perfectly showcases Jung Min's rich, strong, versatile, and expressive voice.  *melts* ♥

Doesn't this song just sound Japanese? XD  I don't remember where I read it, but I think JM said he wrote the lyrics (in Jap.). ^^ Also, JM looks so good in Love Song in August.  When he corners her, lies with her, sings to her, and kisses her..! *swoon*

My reaction to fans' reactions to other fans' reactions to Kyu Jong's concept photos...XD

I'm glad I didn't look at Liezle's blog post about Kyu Jong's 1st concept photos (and its 120 comments) until now.  o_0  The post itself is fine, and most of the comments were good, but there were a few that got my blood boiling.

Like the idiots who said they hated the concept and therefore wouldn't buy KJ's album.  Seriously, WTF?  You decide not to pay any attention to someone's music because of three preview photos?  *shakes fist of righteous indignation*  Also, I got annoyed with KHJ-bias fans who got worked up over someone just mentioning and benignly comparing KJ and KHJ. So we're not even allowed to point out that sometimes they look alike?  It's a crime?  Or an insult?  Which in itself is an insult to KJ because they're saying KHJ is so much better than KJ.  Some even said "KHJ wouldn't have to resort to this stunt like KJ because he's popular enough." RAGE.

But thankfully, the negative comments made up only about 10%.  80% were like "Hm, questionable concept, but I support KJ fully no matter what!"  :D  And the last 10% were wonderful responses to the bad comments, calmly explaining the difference between bashing and constructive criticism, kindly asking people to be rational and polite, and reminding that we're all TripleS and should support all SS501 members.  This was my favorite fan comment, possibly ever:
Hi girls, please remember that we are all TripleS, alright?

Please take note of what we've been writing (: Some of the comments aren't very kind! Although they haven't done activities together in a while, don't forget their expectations for us! SS501 want their green peas to be polite and peace-loving, and that's how we've been for the past couple of years, so don't leave hateful comments, okay? (:

We've come so far together as TripleS now, let's not spoil our good reputation ^^

Be rational, calm and mature.

P.s I love the pictures, and I love Kyu as well. I will support him no matter what, just as how I will support the other members.
Thank you, Anonymous @ 8:23 PM.  This is exactly the reason why I love Triple S as much as I love SS501.  ^_____^

The Controversy of Pearls

I admit, the pearls were shocking.  But I'm glad to see that the majority of people supports Kyu Jong no matter what.  And surprisingly, some are even starting to like the pearls (the more I look at it, the more okay it seems).

But geez, I didn't think the pearls would bother this many people this much. -_-;

Okay, I get it, some styles just don't work (ex. SuJu's horrendous "Mr. Simple" wardrobe). It's not my cup of tea either. But when people drag in sexual orientation into it, it's not just unfashionable to them, it's uncomfortable, wrong. Pearls are too associated with women and it looks too close to cross-dressing (in a serious way; if it was comedic, they'd be fine with it).

I hate when people leave "gay much?" and other stupid comments.  Really?  Right, so... Guyliner, eyeshadow, makeup, earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces, hairdye, bright cutesy clothes, or skirts on guys is okay, but pearls are too much. >_< They don't make him gay; they make him bold and original. And he makes them sexy.

Male idols wear just as much makeup and jewelry accessories as female idols nowadays. Does it really make that much difference if it's a pearl necklace, not a metal or plastic one?

One fan said soon pearls will be the newest "in" thing because of KJ.  I hope so.  Just like when people were freaking out about SS501's REBIRTH concept photos and their heavy smoky makeup, and now almost every male idol wears it.  Or what about when Hyung Jun (and Big Bang) wore the man-skirts?  And once upon a time when it used to be weird for guys to wear earrings. (Look, KJ's wearing three in the teaser!)

Bottom line: I don't love the pearls, but I love the concept.  The pearls aren't the point.  The concept is white and black, pure and dark, female and male beauty.  Kind of Yin-and-Yang.  I think it's interesting and beautiful.  And I'm actually very proud of Kyu Jong for trying something so daring--and being confident and man enough to make it work. ;)

Kyu Jong's "TURN ME ON" teaser!

Kyaaaaa~ LOVE IT.

Love KJ's soft, sensual voice. His great, intense acting. His sophisticated, sexy look. The orchestral melody (but looks like there'll also be a dance beat?). The flashy but classy set with the emotional story aspect.

I am officially teased, and I can't wait for the full MV and mini album!!

Edit to add:

Hmm, I wonder if the pretty instrumental in the teaser is actually part of "Yesterday".  Because Young Saeng's teaser had the "Let It Go" part over different music (a song used only in the teaser).  I hope KJ's title track is similar in feeling to the teaser (like YS's was), if not the same song.  I'd like him to do something more soulful than another dance track like "Wussup".

Also, I'm hoping the storyline isn't just a regular painful breakup one.  It looks like KJ is brooding around a filming stage and getting upset in a dressing room, so it'd be cool if it was a celeb love story happening behind-the-scenes of KJ's MV shoot (kinda breaking-the-fourth-wall fiction).

4 Cool Finds

GLOW-IN-THE-DARK KITTEN.
Taken from this NPR news article on HIV research.  Amazing, adorable, and advancing life-saving science! :D

JEDI KITTENS (Strike Back):

lol I love this.  I thought Part 1 was great, but this is pretty awesome CGI and cute. XD

The Lonely Island w/ Michael Bolton

I heard about the Lonely Island medley on the Emmys last night and looked it up.  Been listening and laughing to this ever since.  Classic!

Edit to Add:  "Online Gamers Crack AIDS Enzyme Puzzle".  Very cool.

Keane

I love Keane's first album Hopes and Fears.  "Somewhere Only We Know" is one of my favorite songs ever.

It's just too bad that only the UK edition included the last song "On A Day Like Today", which is really beautiful and would've been perfect on the album.  Lately I keep playing it on repeat.

Apology Not Accepted

After music producer Ryan S. Jhun's Twitter tantrum and tirade, in which he blamed KARA's successful comeback for UKISS not winning awards, insulted Kara and damaged UKiss' image, and incited a fanwar, the "Neverland" composer posted an official apology.

Well, I say "too little, too late, jackass."  I can believe he regrets his behavior (since he's now hated and probably jobless), but I don't think he's sorry. >< He can't say he will "support Kara and UKiss" after insulting both groups and their fandoms. Did he even take back what he said about Kara being just dancers who can't even sing? Maybe if he'd said that both Kara and UKiss are idol groups that sing and dance, and that he was wrong to put down one to promote the other, then his letter might seem more sincere. But it sounds like he's not sorry for the insults, just for tweeting about them. That's not the same! It definitely won't go away. Fans, and the industry, which will want to avoid controversy and the fans' wrath, won't let him put it behind him.  And he deserves it. /rant

Random Fandom Update

Kara's live streaming events are really fun and full of juicy content.  (Still worth the wait, but since they share the video later, I might not stay up just to catch it live. ^^;)  I love watching the behind-the-scenes of their comeback preparation and even their special showcase.  Looking forward to more.

There was even an article about Kara's MV on Ryan Seacrest's blog!  Random, but really great for them!  *proud Kamilia*  And YAY, Kara's "Step" is winning #1s on their comeback week! Congrats!  :D

-----

I saw a couple of clips from the Japanese remake of You're Beautiful.  It feels weird to watch, kinda like a play with Jap. actors trying to recreate the role.  I guess that's how all remakes are, but it didn't feel so awkward when I watched the Korean Boys Over Flowers and the Taiwanese BOF (Meteor Garden).  Maybe because I love YB sooo much.  (Or, superficially, the Jap. actors just aren't as good-looking as the originals. ^^;;)  But I like the lead actress (I watched her recording-and-crying scene, and it was good), and Jang Geun Suk's cameo. XD

Speaking of Jap. dramas about girls pretending to be guys, I just found out there's a live-action Jap. drama version of Ouran High School Host Club. @_@  This is even weirder, seeing Jap. actors play some of my favorite anime characters.  The script is followed pretty closely, and they even use special effects for the silly not-realistic-only-in-anime moments.  But after the initial shock and a couple of episodes later, it's actually pretty cute.  I'll keep watching if I can find the subs.

-----

Totally random fandom LOL:  Scientists have discovered a real-life "Tatooine", a planet that revolves around two suns.  "Binary Sunset" for realz! XDDD

"Not Alone" featured in Animax CF!

The instrumental version of Jung Min's "Not Alone" is used in a TV spot for Animax, the largest anime network!  It could be seen all over Asia and even parts of Europe and the rest of the world!  The song is so exciting, emotional, and epic, really fits the tag line: "Some stories need to be told: in Anime style!"  Congrats, JM! ^_^

Old Fandoms Renewed

Lately, I've been on a fandom flashback kick.

-----

I have the urge to re-watch the Star Wars movies (even the prequels *gasp*).  Must be because of the new BluRay editions coming out, with even more changes to the original films.  *obligatory eyeroll*  I mean, I'm not a SW purist or anything; I grew up watching the 1998 Special Editions on VHS, and I appreciate the improved special effects; but a lot of the changes unnecessarily or even negatively alter the story-telling.  This is, like, the 3rd revision?  George Lucas, please stop tinkering already. XD;

Sadly, I don't think there'll ever be the "perfect version" for me, since I like some changes and dislike others from all the editions.  But I never get tired of this classic scene:

Ah, "Binary Sunset", that theme always makes me emotional.  It just overflows with wonder and destiny on the horizon. *o*

-----

Next is Teen Titans!  Being a big DC fan, this is one of my favorite cartoon series.  I love the anime-inspired style and humor, and I love all the characters.  ;D  Some of the silly filler episodes are skipable, but the major story arcs that span each season are really well done, the writing exciting, suspensful, emotional, and satisfying, especially for a "kid's show".

I watched the first 10 episodes of Young Justice recently, and it's pretty good so far.  It's literally like a younger version of Justice League. It's not as wacky fun as Teen Titans, and some of the "teenisms" are cheesy, but at least it's not over-stylized and annoying like The Batman.  (Surprisingly, I still love Robin, even if he's suddenly the youngest member, not the leader, has a quirky fascination with humorous grammar, and is played by, of all people, Jesse McCartney. lol)

-----

Lastly, Avatar: The Last Airbender.  Again, this is one of my favorite animated series.  Unique concept and world, beautiful art and music, fantastic writing and acting, both fun and epic.  Sometimes I still feel the need to buy it. XD

Feeling nostalgic, I randomly looked it up and was ecstatic to find out that there'll be a second Airbender series coming next year!  :D  It's called The Legend of Korra, and it's about the next Avatar after Aang, about 70 years after the first series.  It's supposed to be more mature but still keep its action, humor, and romance.  I can't wait!  The trailer looks awesome!

KARA - STEP MV

Yay!  The song is great, and the MV is fun! :D  The more I listen, the more I like it.

After the 2nd Teaser, I was expecting something more bubbly, but it turned out to be more powerful.  It's still a good, fun pop song, just with a stronger feel.  The lyrics, too, are bright but not shallow, a song of encouragement to "step it up", more than cheerful, almost empowering.  Like SS501, I think Kara's music is becoming more sophisticated, with more layers and variation, but with the same fun, charming heart. ^^

The MV itself is nothing special, and actually, the outfits (with the exception of the dresses) are pretty tacky.  XD;  But the song, the energetic club atmosphere, the girls' prettiness, and the dance make it good.  The choreography is interesting, some parts are a bit more complicated (both upper and lower body) than their previous routines, while others have the simple, notable moves they're known for, so it's both fresh and familiar.  I can't wait to see their live comeback stages!

And I'm also looking forward to the Live Kara Show on YT this Wed. Especially after Sun. and the Great International Kamilia Online Convention aka The Day Kamilias Around the World Trolled Themselves.  LOL

You've Fallen For Me (aka Heartstrings)

Quite an enjoyable drama!  At first I only watched it casually, mostly for Park Shin Hye.  It had a decent start (the musical aspect piqued my interest), although a bit disjointed, setting up all the little storylines/relationships.  But around the middle, the focus returned to the main plot/couple, and the show progressed really well, with nice, light drama and romance.  The end had a typical last-minute obstacle and rushed happy ending, but well executed.

That pretty much describes Heartstrings: simple but well done.  The writing (plot and script) wasn't anything spectacular, but the show did a good job with what it had and was elevated by the combination of the cast chemistry (Jung Yonghwa improved a lot since You're Beautiful and turned out to be very charming in this role), the breezy directorial style (which looked amazing compared to Playful Kiss), and the great OST (loved the Western/Traditional fusion, sweet love songs, and musical numbers).

I usually wish that shows I like had more episodes, but I think it's actually good that Heartstrings didn't get an extension and was, in fact, shortened to 15 instead of 16 (due to PSH getting into a car accident halfway through).  Another episode isn't needed; the plot is already fleshed out and satisfactorily resolved, and much screen time was given to musical performances, rather than story, anyway.  Any more, and the show would've been too slow or contrived, so it ends just right.

I didn't expect to like this drama this much, but it's really made me love PSH even more, fall for Yonghwa just a bit, and listen to the OST constantly since it ended.  I give it a B+. ^_^

Now if only PSH and Jang Geun Suk would re-unite for a drama! ;D

New Home

Because LiveJournal is driving me crazy with its stupid ads and layout problems and spam comments, I decided to move here after finding out how easy to use Blogger is from creating my SSongs501 Blog.  I'll be leaving my ssangchuary LJ open, but I'm going to transfer all posts here for convenience (and my sanity).

Young Saeng's 1st solo mini album

Another SS501 member, another amazing solo debut! Once again I am blown away by the fantastic music, great talent, and unique style each member brings. Each of their mini albums has had different feels and a variety of genres, and they're all so good!
"Let It Go" is a hit! The song, MV, and YS himself are so luxuriously suave and seductive. I am SO happy that YS chose a cool dance track that still showcases his beautiful voice! "Let It Go" is the perfect debut song for YS! Pretty melody, YS vocals, nice production, cool dance, it's got it all!

I rarely like all the songs on an album (even from my biases), but I honestly love all the songs on this mini! "Out the Club" is unexpectedly autotuned but done so well, I can't help but find it mad catchy. "Rainy Heart" is so pretty; I love YS's pure voice (he gets to do lower vocals, too =), the acoustic guitar, and Kyu Jong's rap! ^_^

But my favorite song is "I'm Broken"! The beginning reminds me of "Requiem For A Dream" OST, then it has a catchy retro-techno pop feel like Lady Gaga, and it all comes together in a wonderful Sarah Brightman-esque blend of beautiful melody, emotional vocals, and electro beat. Love it!

"Let It Go" big hit! Heo Young Saeng fighting! SS501 forever!

SS501, The Most Humble Group

Oh, SS501. How do you explain to people who don't already know? How do you describe the 6 years of kind acts? How do you tell people they probably haven't heard of SS501's many humble gestures that only their fans would know because they do so many little things so often?

They are the same boys as when they debuted, so well-mannered (90 degree bow to everyone, sunbae and hoobae), caring, gracious, and humble. <3

Not only did SS501 do the traditional bow of upmost respect when they won on TV, they also gave it at the end of their Persona Asia Tour, where they also cried because they were so thankful for the fans' love and support and so sorry that they couldn't repay it enough. <3

They say that all the time, "Thank you so much" and "Sorry that all we can give you is 'thank you'". Every time they do or say anything, it's for their fans. To SS501, Triple S isn't just their livelihood, it's their family, one they swear to grow old with.

They have shown care and concern for fans on multiple occasions.
-They ask fans to please be orderly because their safety is first, always stopping to make sure any fans who trip/fall are alright, worrying about the fans they leave at chaotic airports. (Just recently, a Taiwan fan tripped, and Jung Min personally reached out to steady her and said "Be careful" in Mandarin and made sure she was okay before he continued to his van.)
-They give the best fanservice! They smile and wave and give eye contact to as many fans as possible, no matter where they are or how busy they are! (You can see in fancams, when a whole bunch of idols were gathered in Thailand for the Idol King special, Jung Min was like the only idol to look around and smile and wave every time fans called. <3) They try their best (even bypassing their own bodyguards!) to accept letters and small gifts, encouraging fans to not buy them expensive gifts.
-They send warm drinks to their fans waiting in the cold (They still do this! Hyun Joong did this just last year!), sending greetings and gifts when they hear of fans who are very sick, constantly telling everyone to be careful of cold and dress warmly and stay healthy, and always wishing their fans happy days only. ^^
-Other examples: asking staff to give a pregnant fan a VIP seat so she wouldn't have to stand, helping to pay a student fan's tuition, multiple charity events, & Leader's greatest wish is to hold a free concert for all their fans. ^^
-(Other idols get attention when they show such consideration, but SS501 has been doing it for so long and so often, that it's just not reported. lol)

tl;dr
There are only a handful of truly humble idol groups (U-Kiss, Wonder Girls, Kara, etc.), but only one senior, majorly popular, Hallyu/Asia Star idol group that remains so humble, and that's SS501.

Old Angry AKP Profile

I decided to take down my ridiculously long "About Me" rant. AllKPop has improved vastly over the past few months, so some of my points are not as relevant (and my rage not as proportionate) today. But a year ago, AKP's EVIL brought out my inner raging activist, and although it's embarrassing to reveal how intensely I defended pop idols of all things, I have to admit that it produced some good writing. o_0 Truth be told, I became rather infamous for my long-winded rants of righteous indignation and angry protest. >_>; My only defense is that SS501 inspires such devotion and the strong need to protect them. :P

(before AKP's major improvement in late 2010)

I consider it my personal mission to battle AKP's blatant bias, more specifically, their particular dislike for SS501, arguably the sweetest, humblest, and one of the most talented and lovable idol groups ever. Whether it is a sad lack of coverage or an unnecessarily negative tone, my fellow TripleS and I will be there to fight the corrupt system with a bombardment of tips and comments of judicious outrage.

But this goes way beyond just indignation as a fan. This is about principles, which AKP obviously knows nothing about because it is a biased, unprofessional, unreliable, sorry-excuse-for-a-"news"-site. Although there are many, many K-Pop sites that are better than AKP, the sad fact of the matter is that AKP is, unfortunately, the most frequented one. And because they use their vast influence, not to share news on all K-Pop as their name suggests, but to breed contempt for artistes they consider losers while shoving their favorites down the readers' throats, I am forced to endure their form of "journalism" just to try to right their oh-so-wrongs.

If you also think that AKP treats some artists unfairly, I encourage you to comment about it in their articles. (But please watch what you say. Hostility only lowers the credibility of our complaints. Civil and logical attitudes are key to a peaceful protest.) Once in awhile, AKP writers do seem to listen to us and improve a little, so the more Comment Crusaders, the better!

(in response to AKP's denial of bias)

AKP has improved so much in the past 2 months that it’s like a completely different site. I really, really appreciate the faster articles, wider coverage, direct translations of articles, and fewer personal remarks.

Bias is human nature and thus unavoidable, but there's no need to add personal comments. AKP already expresses their leanings the same way all news sources do--in the way they report (all) the news. AKP writers get to decide which Korean articles to use as a source, and their views will inevitably influence the way they translate them into English, perhaps with a positive/negative spin or including/omitting certain information. So their views are still noticed, but by sticking to direct translations only, AKP can maintain professionalism, like a real news site.

AKP can post more frivolous stuff on their favorites, just as long as they keep reporting all the important stuff on all artists. Just please continue the progress of the past 2 months, AKP!

That said, it is kind of insulting that AKP is trying to make it seem like their prior biased behavior from the past 3 years is just a figment of the reader’s imagination, even though no one, I mean, no one, no matter how much they love AKP, can deny that AKP used to be extremely biased. (For the most part, I agree with their defense, that even when they make a conscious effort to be unbiased, they can't please all fans because fans can be somewhat sensitive. Honestly, though, AKP is only able to say that now, after 2 months of respectability. Of course fans will still call AKP biased even after they've tried to improve, because AKP has a long history of being biased!)

I understand that more popularity demands more coverage, but that really doesn’t justify AKP’s bias against SS501. (It’s been awhile since I’ve had to rant about this, but AKP calling us paranoid conspiracy theorists was just too much.)

SS501 is one of the most popular idol groups in Korea, and now Asia. There’s no way you can use the excuse that less popular artists get less coverage; that doesn’t, or shouldn’t, apply to them. In fact, AKP used to give rookie groups more articles than 5-year SS501. >_>; It's not just that Triple S are unhappy with the content of the news (although it did seem to be only negative SS501 stuff on AKP). The problem is that AKP neglected to report on SS501 at all most of the time.

Despite reporting on similar (or lesser) news for other groups, AKP missed SS501’s Fifth Year Anniversary, DSP’s statements about the members’ status during the contract issues, Hyun Joong’s fashion endorsements, Young Saeng and Kyu Jong’s vacationing in USA, Jung Min’s expansion of his business Royal Avenue to other Asian countries, Hyung Jun’s big birthday fanmeeting (mini-concert with comedians, 4MEN, U-Kiss, and SS501 members), and Hyung Jun’s Singapore showcase and fanmeeting. Those were just the major news missing in June-August 2010. There were many other SS501-related news in the past few years that never got posted on AKP.

Thankfully, SS501 (finally) started getting fair coverage 2 months ago, when AKP (finally) started acting like a respectable news site. But no matter what they claim, there’s no denying that AKP had serious bias before. Even non-fans acknowledge the particularly negative treatment of SS501. Since AKP is not just one entity but a whole staff with differing views, I’d like to know how it’s possible that not one writer liked them. What’s there to dislike from one of the kindest, most humble, talented, gracious, adorkable, and charismatic groups? But I don’t think we’ll ever get an answer for that. *sigh*

But... You're the one that made me love carrots...

Jung Min doesn't like carrots anymore & asks fans not to give. this kinda saddens me. ^^; they're just so iconic for JM. if you see a fan with a carrot, you know they're showing their love for Park Jung Min only. we're his PEAS&CARROTS♥!
i know JM wants to get away from the horse nickname (understandably), but the carrots aren't just for SS501's Mal. it's also for our favorite Tokki, which JM doesn't mind being called. more than that, carrots are BRIGHT, CUTE, and HEALTHY, like JM. ^_^
i really liked that he and his fans had a symbol that was just for him, a pet name only for us. (like tetsuya and his banana! ;) it seems like a waste of a cute, clever trademark and sign of affection. :P

To allkpop, you suck. No love, me.

Sent a tip to AKP a couple of days ago, and big surprise, they ignored it even though it's definitely news-worthy. -_-; So instead of my originally positive tone (though still highly doubtful that AKP would post about SS501 so I freakin' wrote the entire article for them), today I tried a more.. passive-aggressive tactic. XD;
Tip 1: SS501 Kim Hyung Jun's Arabic Interview
Having already appeared on American, Turkish, and Peruvian TV, SS501 members once again prove their global star power with an interview on Arab TV!
After receiving numerous messages, KBS World discovered that there were many, many Arab SS501 fans and arranged an exclusive interview with magnae Kim Hyung Jun in Arabic for them.
During the interview, which aired March 25th, Hyung Jun called and chatted with Arab Triple S from Egypt, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, learning that Arab countries had several SS501 fanclubs, some of which had more than 10,000 members. He talked about his solo album "My Girl", SS501, his brother KiBum, his ideal girl, other Kpop idols, and more, and promised to visit Arab fans someday.
Here is the interview with English subs:

Tip 2: SS501 Kim Hyung Jun on Arabic TV
On March 25th, KBS World aired its Arabic interview with SS501 Kim Hyung Jun after the numerous requests from the thousands of Arab Triple S.
Here is the interview with English subs:

Is that so hard?
AKP, remember when you wrote about Super Junior's popularity in Arab and Latin American countries but didn't for SS501? How about being fair and doing it now? It's a pretty distinct honor and big Hallyu news whenever a Korean artist appears on foreign media (outside Asia), isn't it? ^^
Perhaps there's been a lot of kpop news lately? But since I already provided a written article and links 2 days ago, posting this significant news doesn't even require any more work from AKP. So either you have fulfilled some sort of SS501 quota for the month, or it costs you something (money? pain?) to do this easy part of your job. XD

Please post. Thanks! ^^v
Too much? XD;

Oh my goodness~ Oh my soul~!

http://www.allkpop.com/2011/03/park-jung-min-goes-topless-for-anan-magazine

I still can't believe Jung Min agreed to it (not that I'm complaining! XD). He said he was more confident in his lower half (what does that mean?? lol). And he only showed his shoulders and parts of his sexy back. Maybe because he said he can't bulk up like other Korean stars. But whatever, I really prefer him like this, very healthy looking. I'm so not into chocolate abs *eyeroll*, and they'd probably look awkward on him (like JoKwon ^^;).

*sigh* Jung Min is the perfect combination of Japanese and Korean aesthetic. He's long and lean like a jpop idol (without looking like an adolescent boy), and he has a tall, manly stature like a kpop idol (without looking like a body-builder). His lean and fit body is my ideal type. And of course, his looks and personality are my ideal types, too. ;D That's why I love this shoot; it shows his overflowing sexy charisma (look at his body eyes!), natural beauty (i swear, he glows~), and cute charm (his smiles!), all at once. ♥

"You might show up in my dreams tonight." Jung Min~!♥

The Green Pea Monster Strikes Again

I love this fancam of Jung Min being scared by a fan in a mask at one of his fansigning events. I absolutely adore Jung Min for his cuteness and humor. <3

So then, being the obsessed Triple S that I am, I started imagining what would happen if the other SS501 members met a fan like this...
It might go something like this:

Hyun Joong: "uh!" jump back, wide eyes, hands on his chest, then nervous laughter, "scared me!", hand rubbing chest, embarrassed smile, sign, nod "thanks", neck crick, "oh~", 4D comment, laugh
Young Saeng: little jump, "omo!", then laugh, "what the?", shakes head, signs, smiles
Kyu Jong: wide eyed "oh!", then "haha" ^^, asks to see the mask, takes it "wah~", puts it up to his face "heehee", gives it back, chuckles, signs, thumbs up
Hyung Jun: "AH!" nearly falling off chair, then high-pitched laugh, gets up and walks around in circles, "ah, crazy~" "oh my god" (in english XD) "why??", sits down, laughs some more, chats while signing, smile, hug, wave

This is kinda fanfic, right? lol

Dammit, HJL!

HJL, i love you, but you keep annoying me! and your fans who defend you, even if they have to insult others, and insist on calling you "perfect" just irk me even more! -_-

honestly, yeah, it hurts to see him attend Junsu's musical but not HJB's. but i admit we don't know the whole situation. although unlikely, i suppose it's possible HJL attended in secret or stayed away to not attract too much attention from HJB (kind of presumptuous, no?), or perhaps he meant to go but was too busy at first and then didn't realize the musical was ending already and missed his chance (he's kinda scatter-brained).

in and of itself, his non-attendance isn't that big of a deal. but HJL fans who think others are "attacking" (who's the one over-reacting?) should realize it's not just this one minor "slight". it's the past several months of barely being linked to SS501. =/

i understand wanting to avoid the media and its rumors, and i love that he confirmed SS501 is not disbanded (like... twice?), but he rarely says anything else about his members. in fact, if it weren't for KJ mentioning that he grabbed drinks with HJL, we would have never known that HJL even sees his members, because all we know is that they keep in contact with each other (but apparently not often with him since he's hard to reach, according to many).

what's annoying is that HJL fans counter with "well, the other members don't show support for him either. they didn't promote his drama." for one, i seem to remember KJ mentioning it, or at least Steven Lee shared their feelings and told people to watch PK because they (other members) still support him, too. it's true they never visited his filming site like in BOF, but they had their own solo activities to start, and they did mention they were proud of HJL singing in the Asian Games. okay, not much support for HJL's drama, i get it, but that's one solo activity they didn't promote, while HJL neglected many more.

think of it this way: the other 4 members missed HJL's drama and fanmeet (which was mainly for the cast & crew), while the leader missed YS & KJ's fanmeets (which JM visited), HJB's musical and fanmeets (which JM, YS, & KJ watched and participated in), and JM's fanmeet (which HJB attended) and 1st solo album (which YS, KJ, & HJB congratulated him on and cheered for).
you can complain that that's a double standard for HJL, but you know what? there SHOULD be a double standard; he's the LEADER. how can the other members be (much) more vocal and supportive of SS501 and its members than its own leader? he's not just a member who happens to be reticent, he's known as SS501's Leader.

look, i'm not questioning HJL's relationship with his members. but isn't it natural to question his actions and his fans who continue to call him the best leader when he hasn't done much "leading" for awhile?

i still love him as an important part of SS501. and i still think he's a really good man (especially after his charity & community service event helping to distribute coal to the needy ^^). but i'm allowed to be annoyed with him for publicly showing support for and playing with his JYJ friends but not showing up for his SS501 members.

i just want to see a little more Leadership. and that includes ships with Leader: where's the HyunSaeng, HyunKyu, GaeMal, & DoubleHJ love? ;)
